Been hearing a lot of talk around lately to change or drop the street stock class and starting again due to people finding it harder and harder to get the older style engines, same problem that caused the amendment to the rules to open the body shape to the later model Ford and Holden.
Had a bit of an idea rattle around in me head and thought might chuck it up here and see what response we get, so, here we go .......

Open up to 1994 mass produced standard (fleet/taxi spec) 6 cylinder engines with same engine restrictions as current street stock class I.e. Standard heads, standard stroke/crank etc.
No performance models exampled by but not limited to XR6 or SV6. Intake restricted to 60 mm throttle body (go no go gauge to measure, same system as used now) standard ECU (computer) must be used.
To help parity the performance offset between old and new spec motors open carb size up to 500 cfm two barrel and allow roller rockers only , no roller cams or roller lifters, also for reliability and availability of parts and as some later model motors are fitted as standard.
Current body restrictions remain unchanged.

Possible refinement of tyre rule could be from "No Performance Tyres" to something like;

Original manufacturer type standard road tyre as would be expected on a standard mass produced road going vehicle released in Australia. Of which could also be defined as having not less than 10 original production lines or grooves in an area not less than the section width square. ie a 225/60/15 must have 10 or more grooves or lines in an area 225 by 225 measured at the tread face with no post manufacturer modifications or alterations allowed.
